Make a Wreath

Our business is making fresh, elegantly decorated Christmas wreaths for our customers. Wreaths can be enjoyed as a home decoration or given as a thoughtful holiday gift. Since we literally make thousands of wreaths within a small two month window, it’s safe to say we are expert wreath makers. As experts, we thought we’d share our insight with all you crafty people who want to make a wreath.

How to Make a Christmas Wreath

1. What you'll Need

In order to make a wreath the way the way we make them at the farm, you'll need some boughs (e.g. Noble Fir), a metal wreath ring and a table with a wreath clamp.

2. Decide on the Diameter of your Wreath

To begin, decide the desired outside diameter of the wreath. The metal wreath ring used should be approximately half the size of the finished wreath. On your table, mark the outside diameter with a permanent marker making a guide for your round wreath.

3. Cut your Boughs

Insert your wreath ring into the clamp and start cutting your boughs off the branch. Cut both short and long pieces depending on what the branch offers. Longer pieces are better so keep pieces eight inches long if your outside diameter is 26 inches.

4. Place Pieces Inside Clamp

Start placing pieces inside your clamp in a fan shape keeping smaller pieces towards the inside circle and larger pieces fanning towards the outside line on your table. Remember to run your larger pieces to the line but not beyond. This will create a round circle. The more branches you place in each hand (the metal prongs that stick out of the wreath ring) the more lush and full your final wreath will be.

5. Clamp Boughs Together

After the completion of a hand, clamp you boughs together with your foot operated petal. Make sure all the boughs are tightly bound together and cannot pull out. You may also use wire to tighten your boughs to your frame. You may need to wrap wire many times around your finished hand to ensure it remains in place.

6. Continue Pattern

Continue the same pattern until you have a finished wreath. The last hand can be a little more difficult because the boughs from your first hand need to be help out of the way while your placing and clamping off your final hand.

7. Decorate your Christmas Wreath
